ONLINE MAP OF VENTURA
By: Rellis Smith Posted: 09/29/11
Rick Cole/City Council (AKA: Gang in the Ivory Tower)
Mr. Cole, I just read the article in the Star about the Online Map of Ventura. It really looks good, my only problem (and, of course, you knew I would have one) is not with the map, the problem lies in the article where you're guys are quoted as saying, "Ventura map links, are screened to make sure no confidential information is available to the Public."
"For example owner's names have been taken off the interactive property parcel maps."
In the first part of the article, you espouse on the purpose for the maps, one being "a far more interconnected and transparent government."
I don't know if Mr. Taylor, Mr. Adams and you know it but if you go to the recorder's office and look up a piece of property in the City of Ventura you will not only be able to access all information about the property, IE: location, size, taxes, (paid or not) as well as the names of the people owning the property, and when they purchased it.
So in reality the information that you are hiding because it is in your words, "confidential" is not so confidential after all.
So as I see it instead of being "far more interconnected and transparent" you have added one more bit of, shall we say, non-information to the public.

P. S. On the user's end, other than simply a map for people to find streets and such, it can be used for developers to find where property is in order that they can formulate building and development plans.

GRANNY FLAT ANMSTY VERSES OTHER ON-SITE BUILDING' CODE ENFORCEMENT INFRINGEMENTS
Questions By: Camille Harris Answers By: Andrew Stuffler Posted: 10/04/11
Camille Harris - Question 1-A: Will the disclosure of nonconforming setbacks on buildings OTHER than the granny flats be used against the applicant?
Andrew Stuffler - Answer 1-A: The answer is YES.
Camille Harris - Question 1-B: Only under two possible conditions:
Andrew Stuffler - Answer 1-B: Are you enlisting volunteer help for filing complaints through the community councils as was suggested in the Budgeting for Outcomes document?
Camille Harris - Question 2: What are specific "life safety" issues that will be cited? We have responded to this question in writing several times. Please see prior MVA cases filed by you.
Andrew Stuffler - Answer 2: We keep asking because you state you will give citations for "life/safety violations" anywhere on the property, while on the property to inspect the 2nd unit, but we have not seen a specific list of what those are and in the interest of transparency, the public needs to know.
Camille Harris - Question 3: Can applicants for units in service prior to 2004 be allowed the same path for appeal as for units AFTER 2004? Yes.
Andrew Stuffler - Answer 3: Yes. According our reading of the ordinance, units prior to 2004 would be appealed to the Local Appeals Board, but appeal for modifications would be to the Planning Commission.
Camille Harris - Question 4: What is the specific list of "life safety" issues that will be cited on a property during an inspection of the granny flat? We have responded to this question in writing several times. Please see prior MVA cases filed by you.
Andrew Stuffler - Answer 4: Then you state that there is no specific list and that it is discretionary?
Camille Harris - Question 5: Will all of the money be refunded if the application is denied? No money is collected until the application is approved. Therefore, there is no money to refund.
Andrew Stuffler - Answer 5: Does it clearly state this in the ordinance? Perhaps this should go into a FAQ, because it has appeared they would be paid before the application is complete for submission.

GRANNY FLAT ANMSTY VERSES OTHER ON-SITE BUILDING' CODE ENFORCEMENT INFRINGEMENTS (Continue From Bottom Of Column 2)
Questions By: Camille Harris Answers By: Andrew Stuffler Posted: 10/04/11
Camille Harris - Question 6; What if someone doesn't have the money? Will their unit be deemed illegal and will they be subject to criminal penalties? Only if the property is the subject of a future complaint made by a member of the public after December 21, 2012 and the subject unit remains in violation after December 21, 2012.
Andrew Stuffler - Answer 6: So, after the "amnesty" period, they will be illegal?
Camille Harris - Question 7: What is the cost and procedure to abate setback violations to zoning requirements?
Andrew Stuffler - Answer 7: I am referring to any structures on the property other than the 2nd unit. These could be affected by an incriminating disclosure required in the "sketch" that must be submitted to apply for the 2nd unit ordinance.
If you are asking about the process and cost associated with appealing a decision of Planning staff relative to a zoning setback violation for a 2nd unit place in service after 2003, then the following applies:
A. Applicant requests Planning staff zoning compliance determination in writing - $0.00,
B. Applicant files for a Zoning Modification for a 2nd Dwelling Unit Amensty Permit - $1,200,
C1. If the modification is granted the process ends and the 2nd Dwelling Unit Amnesty Permit process resumes.
C2. If the modification is not approved, the applicant may request an appeal of the modification decision - %600.
D. Once the appeal process has concluded, the applicant may choose to proceed with a permit or not.

HOW COME MISSOURI HAS NO ILLEGALS???
Posted: 10/05/11
HOW do we get this pushed through in Arizona???
Missouri's approach to the problem of illegal immigration appears
to be more advanced, sophisticated, strict and effective than anything
to date in Arizona.
So, why doesn't Missouri receive attention?
Answer: There are no Mexican illegals in Missouri to demonstrate. Go Figure.
The "Show Me" state has once again shown us how it should be done.
There needs to be more publicity and exposure regarding what Missouri
has done.
In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional
amendment designating English as the official language of Missouri.
In November 2008, nearly 98% voted in favor!
Thus, English became the official language for ALL governmental
activity in Missouri. No individual has the right to demand government services in a language OTHER than English.
In 2008, a measure was passed that required the Missouri Highway
Patrol and other law enforcement officials to verify the immigration
status of any person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the
person is found to be in Missouri illegally. They, the Missouri law enforcement offices receive specific training with respect to enforcement of federal immigration laws.
In addition, in Missouri, illegal immigrants do NOT have access to taxpayers' benefits such as food stamps and health care through Missouri
HealthNET.
In 2009, a measure was passed that ensures Missouri 's public
institutions of higher education DO NOT award financial aid to
individuals who are illegally in the United States.
In Missouri, all post-secondary institutions of higher education are to annually certify to the Missouri Department of Higher Education that they have NOT knowingly awarded financial aid to students who are unlawfully present in the United States.
So, while Arizona has made national news for its new law, it is
important to remember, Missouri has been far more proactive in
addressing this horrific problem. Missouri has made it clear that illegal immigrants are NOT welcome in the state and they will certainly NOT receive any public benefits at the EXPENSE OF HARDWORKING MISSOURI TAXPAYERS.
This is why there are no illegals in the great state of Missouri.
